Fashion is a very fast-paced business. In fact, some of them focus not on clothing but on perfumes, like the house of Thierry Mugler and their signature Angel Perfume. Every single day, new designs are coming out and old ones are being thrown to the curb. The Birth of an Angel
Approximately 60 years ago in France, the man that the world would come to recognize as one of the finest fashion designers of his time was born. As he grew up, he quickly showed a passion for designing clothes. He liked to make outfits for his friends and when he was in his 20s, he opened his own fashion house. Customers flocked to his door while critics raved at his talent. His style was immediately recognizable because of the trademark prints that contains images of insects and popular movie celebrities.
As the years went by, the house of Thierry Mugler lost its spark until the company was bought by Clarins in the 90s. The new owners dropped the clothing line and concentrated on marketing the fragrances. Most of the perfumes were well-accepted by the public but the Angel perfume in particular became an instant hit.
Today, Angel perfume remains to be one of the best-selling scents in the world. In fact, it is a top 5 brand in America and is also one of the most popular brands in France. The first version of the Angel perfume that was introduced to the market in the early 90s was meant to be for women. But the fruity chocolate fragrance of the perfume soon became so popular that the company decided to introduce another version for men. A few years later, still another version was created and was named Angel Innocent. In 2004, they changed the name to simply Innocent.
Thierry Mugler has long disappeared from the world of fashion design, and now spends his time on photography and writing books. But thanks to the lingering popularity of the Angel perfume, the world still recognizes the name of Thierry Mugler and associates him with one of the world’s finest fragrances.
